A postcard from St Andrews

Castle @ St Andrews, Saturday 22.3.2014 @ dawn

March 2014, my 1st proper (i.e. when I had the chance to stay overnight for two nights) visit to St Andrews, the place that has been allegedly named after a Greek monk.

The place of the famous University and the 1st golf court in the World, but most of all the place where History, Science and Culture are co-distilled in one of the most exquisite malt whiskeys on this planet.

The place has a Mystery and an uncompromising flavour.

Is it the beach with its salty winds?
Is it the music of the seagulls at dawn?
Is it the number of lost souls in the religious wars over the centuries?

Not a clue...

All I have felt... while jogging at the West Sands (like in the film “Chariots of Fire”) the first morning or walking and taking photographs at the East Sands the second morning... is that St Andrews is a magical place where the sound of the sea waves or the chatting at the Keys Bar (while trying to choose the next malt!) have a unique directness and utterly wise flavour...
