it's a horse avalanche...

1990: John Gummer with Cordelia munching burgers for the press
this story of horse-burgers is getting avalanche dimensions...

After this ministerial comment that "bute" might have entered the food chain (for me, this is a really poor comment in "crisis management" terms and this comment has caused BIG damage...), the situation gets big and I am afraid that if we do not see quickly some proper audits being carried out, the public confidence in meat will suffer for a considerable amount of time...

In other words,

can FSA let the Public have the results of audits in meat processing plants / abbatoirs ?
Have any fines being imposed?
Which parts of the law have the companies broken?

There are so many food law and food safety questions here

and all we get is just headlines and laughable political excuses...

Until we see ministers eating horse burgers...like back then...

we need clarity of information and good/strong science!

There is no lack of good science in UK, so let's hope that the politicians will allow the Scientists to do their job...and not interfere as they have done in the mad cows saga (back in the 90's)...
